2016 Reading Challenges.

RChallenge2016

I’ve decided that in 2016, I want to participate in some reading challenges. I searched and searched and searched, and I FINALLY found something that was right up my street.

The first reading challenge I will be doing in 2016 is the 2016 Monthly Keyword Reading Challenge, Hosted by My Soul Called Life.
2016KeywordReadingChallenge

How The Challenge Works:

For this challenge, I have chosen six keywords associated with each month in 2016. Your task is to read one book each month whose title includes one or more of the keywords for that month. Simple right?

Challenge Guidelines:

  • This challenge will run from January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016
  • You can join anytime before December 31, 2016
  • You don’t have to be a book blogger to participate! You can track your progress on Goodreads, Shelfari, Booklikes, etc.
  • The book title you choose can be a variation on one of the keywords. For example, your title could include the word ‘snowing’ or ‘snowflake’ even though the key word is ‘snow.’
  • Keywords can be tweaked. For example, you could read Cinder or Snow Like Ashes for the keyword ‘fire‘ and that would be just fine. If the key word is ‘family‘ then your title could include the word ‘sister’ or ‘mother.’ If the key word is ‘food‘ then your title could include the word ‘cake’ or ‘milk.’ It’s similar to the word game Word Association
  • Link up below to participate linking your post, Goodreads shelf, etc.
  • Lastly, have fun! This challenge is simply for the pure satisfaction of reading so please don’t worry if you have to skip a month or if you have to read your books out of order!

The 2016 Keywords:

JAN- Crowd, Girl, The, Bad, Soul, Soft
FEB- Veil, Kiss, Her, Break, Love, Stars
MAR- Game, Fire, Darkness, School, Like, Change
APR- Far, Life, Stay, One, WarThorns
MAY- Cure, Trial, Family, Key, Thief, Bend
JUN- Moon, In, Only, Whisper, Sleep, Trap
JUL- Rose, Sun, Clock, Day, Angel, Unto
AUG- Prince, Boy, Glass, Heart, Lost, Now
SEP- Wind, Color, Touch, At, How, Sweet
OCT- Rock, Ghost, Fall, Away, Sky, Storm
NOV- Dream, Holiday, And, Of, Dawn, Beautiful
DEC- End, Promise, Everlasting, Ice, Snow, My
For this challenge, I am going to try and read at least 2 books a month, that contain one of the keywords in the title. That means at the end of the year, I should have read 24 books. That seems good enough.

The Second Challenge I will be participating in is the Popsugar 2016 Reading Challenge, where I just have to read books that fit the checklist prompts. This one may be a problem for me, but I still want to at least try.

I also want to read at least 2 books from the Popsugar list each month. So by the end of the year that will be 24 books. Hopefully some of the books I read can count for both challenges, that would be a great help! 🙂

If you would like to join in on the Popsugar Reading Challenge,
here is the Checklist:

I’m crossing my fingers that 2016 will be a better reading year. I know I did read a little over 60 books this year, but I wanted to try something different for 2016. Let’s just hope I stick with it, and I don’t get bored. 😐 Let’s do it! 😀

Are you guys doing any reading challenges in 2016? Let me know in the comments! 😀

  1. I’m hoping to participate in the Popsugar 2016 reading challenge too theres some really good prompts but I think a few are going to be a problem, like political memoir or trying to find a protagonist who works as a receptionist lol (A book with a protagonist who has your occupation)

  2. I love reading challenges. I have yet to post about the ones I’m going to do in 2016, but they are: the Goodreads Challenge – 100 books as usual, Finishing the Series Challenge (hosted by Bea’s Book Nook), the 2016’s Ultimate Reading Challenge and my usual Bookshelf Challenge 🙂
Hopefully I’ll be able to complete them all, since this year I’ve only managed to conquer my Goodreads challenge…

  3. Woah the monthly keyword challenge is intense. And creative. And intimidating. I will be very curious to see how you do on it! I’ll be cheering from the interweb. “Give me a rock! Give me a dawn! Give me a Clock!” 😉

  4. I wasn’t going to do any challenge except the Goodreads challenge but now that I’ve seen those I kind of want to do the Popsugar challenge as well. And I will also make a list of 16 books I would like to read in 2016 and read them all 🙂

  5. I am doing the good reads challenge, my goal for 2016 is to read 25 books. It usually isn’t that hard for me to read that many books but when I was in school is was hard. But now that I am finished, it should be a lot easier.

  6. Oo! Reading challenges! *ogles* I have come across the PopSugar Challenge a couple of times now, but I don’t think I could find nearly enough books to fit into those categories. I’d bomb it so fast. :p (Plus I’m restricted to the books I own before I’m allowed to buy new ones. Limits my possibilities.)

Now, explain to me this Keyword challenge. Why did you pick so many words for the months if you’re only planning to read two books? I feel as though I missed something. Please help. It sounds like fun!
