Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015.

These are in no particular order. I just posted as I came across them on my Goodreads list. Here we go!

1.) Sarah Dessen. I’ve known about her for YEARS! My sister read her books all the time, but stupidly, I barely picked up one of her books this year…AND I LOVED IT!! The First book by Sarah that I read was Saint Anything. It is AMAZING! Now I’m on a Sarah Dessen kick, and I’ve loved all that I have read so far!
2.) Sarah Ockler. It seemed that Twenty Boy Summer was sitting on a shelf, everywhere I went, and when I picked it up and read the synopsis, I put it back down. It didn’t seem like it was for me, but in all honesty, I didn’t read the whole synopsis because when It got to the whole meeting twenty boys in twenty days part, I was turned off. I should have kept reading because this actually turned out to be a great book. I wasn’t just about the boys. I’m glad I got this book from one of my swap partners, because I would have missed out BIG time!

3.) Morgan Matson. I know I’ve only read one of her books so far, but if any of her other books are as good as Second Chance Summer, then I am on the right track. I do own her other two books, hopefully I will read them by the end of December. We’ll see how that goes. I’m excited for her 2016 release! 😀
4.) Mindy Kaling. I know I am cheating with this one. I have known about Mindy for a few years now, but this year is the first time I have read one of her books. Let me just say that I LOVED Why Not Me? I can’t wait to read her first book! Her TV Show is my favorite show at the moment. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

5.) Jenny Han. I love Jenny Han! Her books are so cute! I think my favorite one that I have read so far is P.S. I Still Love You. Even though I didn’t end how I wanted it to, but I still loved it! I can’t wait to read her Summer Trilogy.
6.) Sara Zarr. I really enjoyed Sweethearts. Even though I feel like it was missing something, I still think it was a top read of this year!

7.) Deirdre Riordan Hall. Sugar was an amazing book! I know at first I was having a hard time with Sugar’s attitude towards herself, but soon I got over that hump, and was able to really enjoy the story. I’m still sad over what happens in the end, but like I said, I’ll get over it. 😦
8.) Kody Keplinger. I know I’ve said this about A MILLION TIMES!!! but I really really REALLY LOVED THE DUFF!!! I think it’s the funniest YA book I have read all year! Can’t wait to get my hands on her other books!

9.) Jandy Nelson. Can we just have a moment of silence for Jandy Nelson and her AMAZING books…Thank you. I don’t know what to say. I think I’m in love…I know I know I said that about 10 other times in this post, but Jandy Nelson is now one of my top faves! I just LOVE her and her books! Just Amazing…I don’t even know what book to post, because I love them both SO MUCH!…I’ll just post both covers then!
10.) Jenny Downham. I actually watched a movie based on Before I Die, before I even knew it was a book. I loved the movie, so of course I HAD to pick up the book. I’m so glad I did. The book is even better than the movie. It was SO touching. I know I cried at least four times…Too much 😥

I must say, this has been one of my favorite Top Ten Tuesdays! 😀

  1. I’ve heard amazing things about most of these but haven’t read them–I’m not a huge contemporary person. I’ll definitely have to try a few of these, though!

Thanks for stopping by @ Spellbound!

  2. Great list! I forgot that Morgan Matson had a new book coming out next year. I am SO excited for that. Second Chance Summer, Since You’ve Been Gone, and Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour were all so good. Enjoy the other two. I hope you love them.

  3. I have been on a Sarah Dessen kick for years now. I don’t usually read ‘girl meets boy’ books but there’s something about her style that really appeals to me, the way she establishes all the different communities and towns and the characters. I liked Saint Anything, but I think I read it too quickly! The first one I read was Just Listen, which is still one of my favourites, but I’d also recommend Last Chance for a quick read and What Happened to Goodbye.
I read I’ll Give You the Sun earlier on in the year and although it took me a while to get into her writing style and her characters I really enjoyed it. I’ll have to put The Sky is Everywhere on my TBR list, though I have no idea what it’s about.
    Great Top Ten!

  4. I haven’t read any of those authors, although several of them are on my TBR. Great choices though! Glad you found so many enjoyable authors this year! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  5. EHMAHGERD I really need to read a Sarah Dessen book. Like, right now. Jenny Han’s writing is so cute, right? I didn’t like the sequel so much, but it was still fun to read.

  6. Great list^^ I haven’t read any of these but I’ve heard wonderful things about Mindy’s new one! I need to read it and check out some of these other authors you listed here^^ Thanks for sharing and for stopping by ♥

  7. It still hurts me that Jenny Downham only has a couple more books – she takes ages to release a new one, which means they’re always amazing, but I need MORE! I still haven’t read any Sarah Dessen books, even though I’ve bought a couple this year – hopefully I’ll get around to trying those out next year.

  8. LOVE Sarah Dessen! I haven’t yet read Saint Anything, but I have read an reread quite a few of her books. I also LOVED The Sky Is Everywhere. I wasn’t really sure what to think of I’ll Give You The Sun, but oh well. The Sky Is Everywhere really hit home for me. Awesome list!

  9. I have honestly never read any of these books/authors. But there are some interesting ones listed that I’ll have to add to my TBR and check out in the future. Great list!

  10. I just finished reading Why Not Me on Saturday and loved it. Her first book is really good too. I’ve read it a couple times. I like to read her books as audiobooks because she narrates them herself 🙂

  11. YES times ten for Second Change Summer! It was my first Morgan Matson book as well and I absolutely fell in love. Unfortunately I didn’t adore her others quite as much, but they’re still solid, and I hope you enjoy them. And I’m getting excited for her upcoming book. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!

  12. I LOVE your list this week!! So many of my faves are on there! Twenty Boy Summer surprised me too. I totally thought it was going to be about meeting 20 boys and it SO wasn’t!! It was about so much more. I totally recommend Bittersweet if you haven’t read that yet. Also I’ll Give You the Sun was just amazing, right?? Jandy Nelson’s writing is above what I thought was possible. And yay for Sara Zarr and Sarah Dessen 🙂 They’re amazing too!! Thanks for stopping by my list!

  13. What a great list! I’ve loved Sarah Dessen for years and years and I’m so in love with Saint Anything. It might be my favourite of hers, but I’ll need to reread her others to make a claim like that since I read those ones years ago 😀 I also absolutely love Jenny Han, Morgan Matson and Jandy Nelson. I’ll Give You The Sun is my favourite YA novel and I can’t wait to pick up The Sky is Everywhere!

  14. Oh, I absolutely LOVE Morgan Matson! She has long been one of my favorite authors, so I get so excited when I see others read and enjoy her work. I’m also a fan of Jenny Han – she writes one terrific contemporary story after another – and Mindy Kaling, as I love her blend of humor and insight. I surprisingly haven’t read one of Jandy Nelson’s novels yet {I know, crazy!}, but I hope to do so in the coming year. Lovely list this week! 🙂

  15. I’m so ashamed to say that I haven’t read any of Morgan Matson’s books. I think I’ll give her a try next year. So many people have been saying how good they are. My TTT.

  16. Everyone keeps telling me to read Jandy Nelson, I really should get to that! I also loved Before I Die. It was so honest and 😭 (can’t think of a word, so I’ll use an emoji) This is an awesome list! 🙂

  17. I love Morgan Matson and Sarah Dessen. I liked Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before but haven’t read her other books yet. I liked Twenty Boy Summer too though I didn’t think I would either. Great list!

  18. I have a lot of these, but the only one I’ve read is The Sky is Everywhere, which is one of my favorite books ever! Happy reading 🙂
