Book: The Martian.
Written By: Andy Weir.
Pages: 369.
Publisher: Penguin Random House.
Category: Science Fiction, Suspense & Thriller.
Synopsis: Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.
But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?
My Thoughts: I’m sorry, I didn’t really care for the book. The storyline is great, but I think it will probably be a better movie(I’m not gonna lie, I most likely will be watching it). For someone who thinks they will be dying soon, he sure is full of fun and jokes. I guess his attitude is the attitude to have, but I don’t think most people would react that way in real life. I just thought he was a bit annoying if I’m honest.
A lot of the book was boring because he spent so much time talking science. I found it hard not to just give up. When you let go of all the science talk, the book is okay. I should have known this wasn’t the book for me, I don’t usually read Science Fiction, but I’ve heard great things about The Martian, so I wanted to give it a try. I tried really hard to love it, but i don’t.
This book is not my cup of tea, but I’m sure people who, are into Sci-fi will love it! I gave it 3 Stars.
