What Happens Next Review.

Book: What Happens Next.

Written By: Colleen Clayton.

Pages: 310.

Synopsis: (From Book.) Before the ski trip, sixteen-year-old Cassidy “Sid” Murphy was a cheerleader (at the bottom of the pyramid, but still…), a straight-A student, and a member of a solid trio of best friends. When she ends up on a ski lift next to handsome local college boy, Dax Windsor, she’s thrilled; but Dax takes everything from Sid—including a lock of her perfect red curls—and she can’t remember any of it.

Back home and unable to relate to her old friends, Sid drops her college prep classes and takes up residence in the A/V room with only Corey “The Living Stoner” Livingston for company. But as she gets to know Corey (slacker, baker, total dreamboat), Sid finds someone who truly makes her happy. Now, if she can just shake the nightmares and those few extra pounds, everything will be perfect… or so she thinks.

My Thoughts: I really loved this book. It was so good that I found myself saying over and over “I’m only gonna read one more chapter” and then changing my mind. I just couldn’t put it down!

I really liked all of the characters. Well not all of them (Starsha). Her friends kind of got on my nerves because I feel like they were too quick to cut her off. My favorite character would have to be Corey. He was very understanding even when I think he should have walked away. I know something very traumatic happened to her but she had some real psycho moments.

For some reason, and I hope I don’t sound morbid, I like reading “Depressing” books. I don’t know why but every time I start looking for another book to read I just Google the book I’ve just read and look at the “more like this” titles.

While I do really love this book, there was one thing that bothered me. In 99% of the book she was in…denial. All of the drama of telling someone was squished up into two chapters and then it was just over.  I felt like everything was dealt with at the last minute.  So it felt kind of unfinished at the end. It might just be me but I would have liked to see more of what happened after she told her mom. But I still give it 5 stars!
